  • A night to bring to light and safeguard from oblivion a particular type of “remnant” from both our individual and collective memory: The huge movie and video tapes legacy as well as audio tapes and LP records from 1920 to 1970. These are an essential part of our past and of our individual social history.

  • For over half a millenia the grapevines of Vipava and those of the Goriška Brda have been enriched by the sun and water, enabling them to grow and their grapes to mature. Chemistry, environmental impact and biotechnologies can be used to improve everyday life. Special: “Experimenting with water and the environment” – a didactic workshop for students and their families. Simple experiments to study the physical-chemical properties of water, rivers and little urban water streams, the ecological status and function of water in biological systems. Visitors can have the opportunity to use simple chemical approaches in order to measure the quality of the stream Vrtojbica, highly influenced by urban pollution.

  • We will explore quantum particles, photons and electrons. Their propagation and various interactions which result in physical phenomena will be presented using an experimetnal approach.
  • Waves and the universe. Cosmology and experimental music
    The explosion of the early universe has left wave like features in the cosmos. In high energy physics fundamental particles exhibit both wave-like and particle-like features. An interactive exhibit that offers a better understanding of the physics of waves and particles through the use of musical instruments.
  • Waves and light
    Experiments that explain the properties of light, its building blocks and the various forms of light. Emphasis will also be placed on the use of light for technological purposes.
  • Light and electricity
    What are the possible interactions between light and electricity and how can people utilize these interactions as a source of energy? What are the possible uses and applications of electricity and its unusual properties?

  • Designing planes has always been a multidisciplinary subject, which involves scientists and experts in structures, aerodynamics, materials, propulsion and electronics. Aerodynamic planning studies the efficiency (the best carrying capacity of a plane, by reducing its aerodynamic resistance), turbulence (one of the biggest mathematical mysteries of classical physics), engineering and structural aspects of the project’s feasibility. Success in aerodynamic design calls for great scientific rigor, engineering intuition and artistic design ability.

  • Engage in interactive experiments with the researchers. The chemical clock: participants, along with the researchers, will create a chemical clock based on the Briggs-Rauscher reaction. Colored spheres for the production of hydrogen: visitors will make colorful liquids by using small lab-made spheres provided by the researchers. They will be shown how to use these materials to produce hydrogen along with other methods. Solar Machine: visitors will be able to play with a solar energy machine.
